Tdap Requirement

School Immunization Requirement

May 13, 2024

Dear Parent or Guardian,

In Washington State, the Tdap vaccine is required for school attendance in Seventh Grade.  As of this time, we do not have records that your child received this needed vaccine. The Tdap is a booster vaccine that continues to protect your child against the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis diseases they were immunized against as a young child (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/hcp/imz/child-adolescent.html). For students entering 7th grade, the Tdap vaccine must be given at or after age 10 to be accepted for school entry.

On May 23, 2004, we have partnered with North East Tri-County Health District to provide an in-school immunization clinic. If you’d like to have your student immunized during this clinic, please complete the paperwork in the packet, sign it, and return it to the Junior High at your earliest convenience. Your student will be called out of class and will miss approximately 15 minutes of class time. If you have insurance, please complete the section of the Consent Form. Immunizations are covered at 100% by all insurance programs. There will be no charge for students who do not have an insurance payment source. We will track these immunizations and update your child’s school record so you will not need to provide verification.

If you choose to take your child to their healthcare provider for the immunization, you will need to bring verification to the Junior High. To update your child’s Tdap immunization record at the school, you will need to turn in a medically verified immunization record.  Your child’s healthcare provider can print this for you, or you can print it from MyIR or MyIRMobile, which are free Department of Health online tools that allow families to view and print their official immunization records themselves.  For detailed information about how to get access to MyIR or MyIRMobile visit:
