Fish Hatchery program update: classes successfully shipped out around 13,000 triploid rainbow trout to WDFW and they are currently getting their incubation room ready for the 50,000 trout eggs they will receive after winter break. Mrs Mills is taking two senior students over break to the Spokane Fish Hatchery to help spawn. A few hatchery students are also helping Mrs. Thompson's 5th grade class get their fish tank set up in their classroom this week so they can get some eggs from the hatchery class after the break as well.

Volunteers from the Colville DNR visited CHS today and taught Forestry students how to deploy a fire shelter. Fire shelters are used by wildland firefighters as a last resort for survival when they are trapped by flames with no way out. We are thankful to those who volunteer their time for our students!

Colville High School sent two teams to the FFA Potato Judging contest in Moses Lake this week. Students who participate develop the ability to evaluate potato products to optimize economic returns for producers and industry, as well as meeting customer needs. FFA members take a written exam that tests their knowledge of potato storage, grading, pests and diseases. Members will identify potato varieties as they become not only better agriculturalists but also better consumers. Our students participated against 198 individuals and a total of 43 teams. Payton Emra placed 10th and Kylee Dyar placed 3rd individually. Colville 1 placed 7th and Colville 2 placed 36th in the team division. Way to go Hawks!
